Therapy?
Set Your Goals
It's true- most of us could use some help when it comes to our own health. Most of us are not really in a position to know what is going on- much less what should be done if there is a problem. We are vulnerable and unprotected- not a very comfortable
place to be!
You need to know about alternatives because in every health situation, if you are going to take control, the final decision must rest with you. You have to take responsibility for making it- and you can only do that well if you are well informed!
You need to know about finding the easiest, least invasive way to solve your problems. When doctors give you advice, often conflicting advice, you need to discover and listen to the voice within you that says, "This doesn't feel right. There's got
to be another solution."
Begin this journey by accepting the single, most important rule in natural health care- Don't treat the symptom. Instead, eliminate the cause. |
Ask yourself (or anyone who treats you), "What can be done to return my body to a healthy balance and optimal energy levels? What can be done so I can maintain my body in a disease-free state? What can be done so my body has the
weapons it needs to fight off disease and un wellness in the future?"
There is a link that takes you to a series of articles that discuss illness and health in an entirely new manner-
one you have probably never heard of before. You will be stunned when you read these articles, because they are so different from the ideas of "regular" medicine! It is not easy reading, especially because it is so new to you. But reading
and understanding are essential if you are to truly free yourself from treatments that fail to produce good health. To put it as simply as I can:
If you are going to achieve optimum health, you must alter the way you think about disease. To do that, you must leave behind some old ideas and embrace new concepts. You must move on. |
Conventional medical treatment begins with "naming" a
condition or assigning a code number to it in order to process an insurance claim. This has the effect of making you think your particular situation is a simple, compact problem whose solution should be straightforward and easy. Unfortunately, this is
often not the case.
Illness is often a complex of disease-producing elements- let's call them "Bad Guys". Some of these may be viruses; some may be parasites; and some may be bacteria. In the absence of conventional medical
therapy and drugs, your body relies on its Immune System to defend you against attack by these disease-producing elements.
When you are young, there are not too many of these "Bad Guys" inside you, and keeping them under control is fairly easy. As you get older, the population of "Bad
Guys" increases" and
your Immune System has a harder time keeping things under control. At some point in time, the Immune System becomes swamped by the sheer accumulation of "Bad Guys" and is no longer able to protect you as it once was. You become ill.
This is where most of us will go to the doctor and get a prescription. Perhaps this will "solve" our problem, but often it does not. The reason is because this approach fails to recognize we are ill because of a combination
of
"Bad Guys". To become truly well, we will need a combination of " treatments" which will eliminate not some, not a few, but every one of them.
Health practice is not easy! Because there may be multiple causes of our illness, accurate diagnosis may be elusive in spite of all the laboratory and blood tests ordered for us. Sometimes the prescribed drug will knock out one or more
of the "Bad Guys", but others remain inside us. They will contribute to the build-up of "Bad Guys" that eventually overwhelm us.
I hope my explanation is not too hard to follow. Let me put it more simply:
If illness is a complex of causes, then wellness is achieved with a complex of approaches to eliminate all of those causes. |
Everything counts.
Stop smoking; cut down or eliminate red meat and pork. Increase exercise. Get rest; reduce stress. Take vitamins; increase veggies. You get the idea. And it is my hope that over the pages of this web site, you will get other ideas,
other solutions you can begin to employ to restore the ability of your Immune System to protect you. That you will discover ways to revitalize your body and restore the good health and energy you seek.
You must be patient and persistent, especially if you are seriously ill or trying to overcome the effects of chronic conditions. It took you a long time to become unwell, and turning that around may take longer than you would hope or
expect.
Much of the advice and many of
the suggestions you read here have come from ongoing research and experiment. Much is based on techniques actually used and known to be effective.
Not all of what you read will apply to you, but you are free to take whatever you find helpful, and I encourage
you to write back and let me know your own experiences, as this will help me to expand this site and make it more beneficial to others like you who come here for information.
Remember, just because something says, "Alternative Therapy" does not mean it is going to work for you. And just because it doesn't work for you does not mean it is worthless.
If health was easy to get, no one would be sick. |
