The great astronomer and mathematician Galileo (d.1642) used pendulums extensively in his experiments. Early in
his career, he researched the characteristics of their motion and he used them as time measurement devices in later experiments.
For many years, the great Foucault Pendulum was on exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC. It was named for the French physicist Jean Foucault who first used it in 1851 to demonstrate the rotation of the earth.
So it is fair to say that the use of the pendulum dates from ancient times. It is not magic or mystical; just a tool, nothing more, and it can aid you in determining invaluable information and help you regain/maintain health. Successful use of a pendulum for Alternative Therapy and energy medicine relies upon your acceptance of Energy Fields,
those electromagnetic and other unseen forces acting upon us and the world in which we live.
As with learning to use any tool or musical instrument, practice will improve your results. This is not a skill easily developed, but your efforts will be well rewarded if you approach it openly and with the attitude that you can master it. |
If you have read the book (or seen the video) The Secret, it will be easy for you to understand about using pendulums. Like kinesiology, it is a simple, inexpensive,
non-invasive diagnostic technique utterly dismissed by the medical community.
Dr. Hans Selye, a great physician and acknowledged as the Father of the Modern Concept of Stress, said, "Progress can only be made by ideas which are very different from those accepted at the moment." If you will momentarily suspend your belief system, you will find yourself standing at the doorway to Progress. |
The pendulum obeys physical laws as they relate to electromagnetic fields. Fortunately, there are only three electromagnetic forces we are concerned with: 1) The force of attraction (positive); 2) The force of repulsion (negative); and, 3) The force of neutrality (neutral). |
When placed near the electromagnetic field of some object, a pendulum begins to move. Its movement occurs like the hair standing out on the young girl in the chapter on Energy Fields. To me, the existence of Electromagnetic Forces, and their ability to affect us, cannot be denied, whether the
scientific community accepts this or not.

How to Interpret Pendulum Movement
|
These movements convey information to us of great value, if we know how to interpret them. In working with a pendulum, whatever indicates attraction, that is, positive movement, can be translated as something good, desirable or safe. Whatever indicates repulsion, that is, negative movement, can be translated as something undesirable, unsafe, or
something to be avoided. Whatever indicates neutrality is neither harmful nor beneficial.
If we are testing a candy bar and the pendulum swings in a negative direction, we should not eat that candy bar. In this manner, it is possible to test all the foods we eat, the clothing we wear, the toiletries and cosmetics we use. Everything of a physical nature we come in contact with can be tested with a pendulum. |

Is it Really So Easy and Accurate to Use a Pendulum?
|
Actually, NOT. I once had an occasion to be a participating lecturer at a conference whose very purpose was to teach attendees how to determine frequencies with dowsing devices. There were about 50 or 60 of us there, and the instructor gave us a problem:
"Here is a photograph of a person who is sick because of some organism causing disease. Determine the frequency needed to eliminate that organism.
We all went to work and after 15 minutes, the instructor told us to stop. He then posted the correct frequency on the blackboard. "Who got this frequency, or at least came close?", he asked. I was the only one with the correct answer.
I tell you this story, not to brag, but to emphasize it is not as easy as it sounds. Remember, I have had decades of practice and experience. I would expect me to get it right. But where does that leave you, if you have had little or no experience? |

How To Select A Pendulum
|
Searching the Internet brings up all kinds of discussion concerning what is the best type of pendulum; why this is better than that. I think this is just "hooey", nothing more than a way to sell you one product over another. Virtually any material that is not inert can be suspended from a string and used as a pendulum.
Without question, however, some materials are more reactive or responsive than others. |
|
Determining the Direction of Motion
|
Different materials respond by moving in different directions. Ferromagnetic pendulums usually rotate counterclockwise for neutral, right to left for positive, and up and down for negative. Plastic and crystal pendulums are just the opposite, usually rotating clockwise for neutral, up and down for positive, and right to left for negative. Not every material
behaves in such ways, however, so once you have selected a pendulum, you should determine which direction it moves to indicate positive, negative and neutral |
|
Step One: Determining "Yes" and "No"
|
When using the pendulum, you are going to form mental questions. You do not need to say these aloud; concentrating on them mentally works perfectly well. Select a stone or crystal which is already hanging from a string or chain. You will need to adjust the length of this cord later, but for now, use a length that is about equal to the
width or the four fingers of your palm, excluding your thumb.
Hold the string between your thumb and forefinger, and with the pendulum hanging down, mentally form (or say aloud) the question, "Which direction do you swing to indicate POSITIVE? And as you ask this question, give a small flick of your wrist with just enough force to make the pendulum swing in a circle. As it swings, keep the question in your mind. Ultimately, the pendulum
will swing in whatever direction is appropriate for that particular pendulum, regardless of the material of which it is made. Make a note of the direction.
Repeat this same process, but this time, ask, "Which direction do you swing to indicate NEGATIVE? Note the direction. Do the same for NEUTRAL. Once you have made these determinations, the directions will always be the same for that pendulum, unless someone else uses it. You should test for the direction of movement any time you are using a different instrument,
or if someone else has used your pendulum. |
|
Step Two: Adjusting the Length of the String or Chain, and Allowing Time for Correction of Direction
|
Once you know the direction the pendulum moves, you should adjust the length of the string or chain to which it is attached. Experiment until you find a length giving you the best responsiveness. Too long a cord becomes wearisome; too short a cord produces confusing results, as it moves too fast for you to accurately determine the direction. When
using a pendulum, permit sufficient time to allow it to clearly indicate its direction of movement. If it starts to move in a POSITIVE direction, allow it to clearly establish that is the right direction. Sometimes, especially for beginners, the pendulum will begin to swing in a positive direction, but, given sufficient time, something in the range of 10 to 20 seconds, it will correct itself and swing
in a NEGATIVE direction. Obviously you will not get good results if you fail to determine the correct direction of movement. |

Some Special Tips for Alternative Therapy Beginners
|
Start out asking questions which can be answered in an unambiguous Yes or No. |
The questions you ask should always be moral. "Can I get away with cheating on my taxes" meets the Yes or No requirement, but is not a moral question. |
You should use this tool for the benefit of others in the purest sense.
I personally have found you should not use my pendulum when you are tired, unusually stressed or pre-occupied, no matter how pure your reasons for doing so. |
Always be on guard to maintain impartial objectivity, because you can easily "lead" or mentally direct the pendulum to the answer you seek. If you are treating a loved one, for example, and you ask, "Does so-and-so have cancer"?, you may fall into the trap because, of course, you want the answer to be "No" |
For whatever reasons, you cannot ask questions about the future, especially if you stand to gain or lose something by the answer.. "Will IBM stock go up tomorrow" will not yield an acceptable answer. |
I also think you will get far better results if you use this tool in private and not in front of those unfamiliar with its use unless your purpose is to teach its use to someone else. |

Specific Applications
|
I use my pendulum if I am buying vitamins. Walking into a health food store, I will go to the vitamin section and silently ask, "Do I need Vitamin C?", then swing the little pendulum over the palm of my hand. If yes, I will take a bottle off the shelf and, holding it in my hand, swing the pendulum over the bottle and ask, "Does this bottle contain a vitamin formula
my body can use to good advantage?" If yes, I might then ask, "Is this the best Vitamin C product for my needs at this time?"
You get the picture. I can even go so far as to ask such questions as these: "I seek the dose of this Vitamin C which is best for me. Should I take 2 tablets a day? If the answer is NO, I'll continue, "Three tablets a day" and on until I get a YES answer.
For people with food sensitivities, you can pendule specific foods in order to determine if they are safe for you to eat or not. You don't have to hold them in your hand, merely pendule over them without touching. Be advised YOU CANNOT PENDULE THROUGH A METAL CONTAINER, so testing a can of peas in the supermarket will not yield correct results.
Otherwise, the container is no problem, unless you think it might be. Then, you must either permit your mind to ask the question after making an "agreement" with yourself that the container is not important, or actually test the item outside the container.
You can easily see the limitless possibilities of using the pendulum. It is a marvelous tool, but like any other, it is awkward in the beginning, and you get better with practice. It will help you if you think of the pendulum as the link that connects you with the Energy of the Universe.
|
More than anything else, it is your confidence you can use this tool to do as I have suggested that will produce the results you wish. Believe, truly believe you can do it, and it will become real. That's THE SECRET. |
The first time you sit down at a piano, you are not going to be able to play a Beethoven sonata. The same is true with the pendulum. You will give your wrist a little shake to start it spinning, then you will watch it move aimlessly around going this way and that, and think to yourself, "No way I'm ever going to get this to work." Allow
yourself to think that only once or twice, then move on. |
